After the somewhat bizarre match in Tienen last week the side are desperate for a good performance, the 3 points plus the extra bonus of a home win. Ex-Royal Antwerp player and coach Desaeyere sends out his team to 'do the business' and play to win. With Van Hemert out Svilar chooses a more aggressive 3-5-2 line-up, with Addo, fit again Phibel and Trenson at the back, a returning Frankel alongside Setti, Hairemans, Pivaljevic and De Vriese in midfield, with Tisza and Oris up front

A good first half, end to end, with Setti the first to show for the home side but Turnhout have 2 chances via Da Silva and Mamoun. Hairemans takes a dink from outside the area and is only narrowly over. The first great chance is for Pivaljevic, he receives the ball from Oris but his shot is deflected by a defender into the side netting.

From the corner Oris heads over the bar. His next effort is more on target, De Vriese works his way up the wing, passes back to Oris who blasts his shot against the post. Royal Antwerp are on top now. Oris is in the thick of things, he flings himself at a cross from Tisza but his header goes wide.

Tisza is next to test Horsten and then picks up a yellow. Van Trier has a first taste of the ball in the 22nd minute. Proost has the next opportunity for the visitors but puts the ball over, and after some slack defending by Trenson the ball is with Mamoun who fortunately puts the ball just wide of the post.

Hairemans puts another effort over, then Trenson makes amends for his defensive mistake, pushing up into the visitors penalty area only to be brought down by Horsten. Pivaljevic, cool as you like, slots home the penalty. (1-0). The relief is clear for all to see and for once the team go in for the break, ahead and after a good performance.

Half Time 1-0.

The second half starts with a bang, first a rush by De Vriese but his cross bears no fruit, then Hairemans finds Pivaljevic with a good pass and he is brought down by Horsten, another penalty and a yellow for the keeper. This time Tisza does the honours and puts the penalty calmly away. (2-0).

Two up after 50 minutes, a luxury, but unfortunately the match deteriorates after that. The visitors start to push up and Proost is blocked by Trenson and neither is Ven successful with his effort. Kenmogne is on for the injured Pivaljevic but his first effort is way over. De Vriese takes a free kick and is close with his effort.

Turnhout get the ball in the net but it is disallowed for offside. De Vriese keeps on plugging away but apart from these few moments the match is not great on the eye. Jelicic and De Corte come on for Tisza and Phibel but neither can liven up the game. Hairemans has a shot straight at Horsten and Thiam’s final effort of the match is so high it is embarrassing.

Finally a (home) win for Royal Antwerp, the first in over a month. De Vriese, Hairemans and Frankel put in good performances and the 1st half was good. Hopefully the side can now put in a run of good results. With a free weekend next week the next match against Tubeke in 2 weeks is a must win if they want to move up the table and start to challenge for promotion.
